Background
In 2020, we filed public records requests with various police departments throughout Massachusetts, seeking information about Clearview AI, a facial recognition company. The Agawam Police Department provided records indicating an officer received a solicitation and used a pilot of Clearview. Using the product, they helped an NYPD officer after an officer saw a post on “crimedex.” After the free trial ended, they received a pricing proposal for an annual subscription rate of $10,000.
